“When I first began exploring how literacy is taught, I did not expect it to become a calling — one centered on restoring thoughtful, research-informed instruction and helping students build the intellectual foundation that strong literacy provides.

 

My work began at home, helping members of my own family approach reading and writing in ways that better matched how their minds process language. As I studied the research on literacy development and applied it carefully, something remarkable emerged. When instruction was clear, structured, and intentional, skills that once felt difficult began to fall into place, and confidence followed naturally.

 

Over time, I worked with several family members who each approached learning very differently. Yet the outcome was strikingly consistent. When teaching honored how the mind learns language, understanding grew quickly and students began to see themselves as capable learners.

Those early experiences revealed a pattern. That pattern became a method, and that method grew into a mission.

 

Readers Academy was founded to build strong readers, thoughtful learners, and children who trust in their own minds. Because literacy opens the door — and beyond it lies critical thinking, curiosity, and the confidence to pursue knowledge throughout life.
