Our Program
Our 12-week program is designed to take your child from frustration to confidence — one breakthrough at a time. We meet twice a week in person and once a week online. Over the course of three months, your child will develop strong, lasting literacy skills, learn how to think critically and solve problems independently, and build the self-belief to use those skills out loud. Whether your child is working through dyslexia, ADHD, emotional barriers to learning, or simply needs a bigger challenge, every week is purposefully designed to move them forward. By week 12, you won't just see a child who reads and thinks better — you'll see a child who knows they can.

Step 1: Literacy From the Ground Up
We start where it matters most — the fundamentals. Through multi-sensory phonics, storytelling, and guided reading techniques proven to work for neurodiverse learners, we give every child a strong, confident relationship with words. For children with dyslexia or reading challenges, we use structured literacy methods that work with how their brain processes language — not against it. For kids whose attention makes traditional learning difficult, we keep sessions dynamic, engaging, and free of the frustration that too often makes them shut down.
By the end of this stage, your child will read with confidence — and actually enjoy it.

For Gifted & Advanced Learners

Step 2: From Reading to Thinking
Reading words is one thing. Understanding ideas is another. Once literacy is in place, we introduce exercises that challenge kids to ask why, spot patterns, make connections, and think through problems. For children who've struggled in traditional classrooms, this stage is often transformative — because for the first time, their way of thinking isn't a problem to be corrected. It's an asset to be developed. Kids with ADHD often shine here: their creativity, lateral thinking, and intensity become superpowers when channeled in the right environment.
By the end of this stage, your child will approach problems with curiosity instead of anxiety.

Step 3: Building the Confidence to Use It
For children who've faced repeated frustration, been pulled out of class, or told they're "behind," confidence isn't just a nice bonus — it's the whole game. That's why we intentionally design wins into every stage of our program. Through small group discussions, low-pressure presentations, and consistent encouragement grounded in real progress, we help children rebuild their relationship with learning itself. Kids who once dreaded school begin to raise their hand. Children who shut down under pressure learn to pause, breathe, and try again.
By the end of this stage, your child won't just know more. They'll believe in themselves.
Not every child who needs something different is struggling — some are simply ready for more. If your child is intellectually advanced, easily bored, or hungry for deeper challenges, we provide the stimulation and stretch that a standard classroom simply can't offer. Through accelerated reading, complex problem-solving exercises, and higher-order thinking challenges, we make sure gifted students are always reaching toward their full potential.
Why This Order Matters
Literacy → Critical Thinking → Confidence isn't just a curriculum sequence. It's a growth arc. Each stage builds on the last, so children aren't just collecting skills — they're becoming capable, self-assured individuals ready for whatever comes next: harder classes, new environments, bigger opportunities.
Included in the Program
Every student who joins Readers Academy begins with a clearly defined set of learning goals, established in consultation with parents at the outset of the program. Progress is tracked and communicated through biweekly reports, keeping you informed on what has been covered, how your child is developing, and what lies ahead — with no surprises at the end of the term. All learning tools and resources required to support the program are included. From the first day to the last, every element of the experience is planned, measured, and delivered with care.
A Protected Space.
A Purposeful Environment.
Readers Academy sessions are held in a private room within the quiet, established setting of a public library — a community institution defined by trust, civility, and a shared commitment to learning. Within that space, your child is further protected by the standards we have set for ourselves.
Every adult permitted to engage with our students has been personally selected for their experience working with children who are not always easy to categorize — children who think differently, learn differently, and often feel everything more deeply than their peers. Our educators and support staff understand that a child who has struggled in conventional settings is not a child with a deficit. They are a child whose mind has not yet been met on its own terms.
We keep our groups deliberately small. We keep our doors open and our practices transparent. And we are uncompromising in who we allow near our students. No volunteer, facilitator, or visiting instructor enters our learning environment without a thorough vetting process and a demonstrated history of working with children of varied developmental profiles, learning styles, and emotional needs.
Your child will not be handed off to a stranger. Every adult in that room has been chosen for both their competence and their character — people who lead with patience, who earn trust before they expect it, and who understand that a child who has been misunderstood once will not easily be misunderstood again on our watch.
This is not just a program. It is a protected space built for children who deserve to finally feel safe enough to grow.
